Busted Bike

Just returned from riding our bikes around Hains Point this morning (luckily with a few more parts than the bike in the picture…) and it was a successful ride. I did notice, however, that there were a LOT of critters all over the place rooting around in the trash cans and scurrying across the road. I wonder why the park service doesn’t empty the trash every evening? Lots of them were overflowing, and then I rode right underneath a gross bird struggling to lift a corncob (I think thats what it was?) out of the garbage can I wondered how long it would be until I got hit with a falling piece of trash. And would it knock me off my bike? I hope not. Maybe this isn’t a regular case, I guess I’ll have to drag myself out of bed again to see.

The light, the simplicity of the elements, and the angle make for a strong composition. I’ve seen and took a similar picture at D.C. bus station back in 2005. I like D.C. and would love to come back and visit it again someday.

Your photo caught my eye as I had been cruising Abandoned Bicycles of New York. I always wonder how anyone could just leave a bicycle behind. Then, as I looked further I saw that you were traveling b/w KC and DC. When I lived in DC I did that all the time! My family is in KC. What, if I may ask, would bring you to the remote, although fairly well laid out, KCI?

actually, the trip to KCI was just for a family reunion in Iowa… I don’t frequently make that trip! although the KCI airport is pretty nice, so I wouldn’t mind going back!

I was in DC this January and had a great time.

I love the very mod style of your work.
