ohs no’s! I had a lapse in judgement and signed up for the National Marathon

In just under 75 days I will be embarking on my third marathon (2nd time doing the National Marathon). The National Marathon (and Half Marathon) are on March 21st in lovely and scenic Washington, DC. I’m a bit nervous as I have been pretty lazy in this chilly weather. Thus far (which is just yesterday and today) it has served as a good motivator and got me to run ~7 miles last night and ~4 miles this morning (in the nasty wintery mix that we are having, yuck). When I ran this in 2007 the course included a completely sadistic hill at around mile 20 that took runners from Rock Creek Park up onto the Calvert Street Bridge. Here is a link to the new course. It looks like the race directors changed the short fast hill to a much longer more mellow climb up Connecticut Ave and placed it much earlier in the race. How very considerate of them.
I’d really like to break my time of 3hrs 49min from 2007 but we shall see how this goes. Wish me luck!

Go Matt! It’s something I could never do. I ran 5 miles about 10 years ago and I am still sore.
