Proposal

So, the great news from over the weekend is that Matt proposed!! I said “Are you serious??” followed by “YES!” It was our five-year anniversary on Thursday, and I was first surprised by roses arriving at my desk at work. Later that evening, we stopped at my parent’s house for dinner. We were on our way up to New York for a wedding in which Matt was the best man. We finished up eating and Matt wants to go for a walk. Well, I want to go for a quick swim in the pool. So, we go for a walk down the street and into the neighborhood across the way. As we were coming back, it was pretty dark, and Matt says, pointing to the only one with porch lights on, “Is that one your house?” I say “yes….” Then he asks me if I remember what was written on the card that came with the flowers. Next thing I knew he was on his knee in the gravel at the end of my parents driveway. Apparently my mom and dad were sitting outside on the porch watching the whole thing. Awww! So, needless to say, I’m enjoying showing off the beautiful ring that Matt chose, and we are really excited!

This brings to mind an old Chinese proverb: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Someone must have taught you well Matt. You snagged a good one!!! Nice Catch!!!!!!!

D Waz…nice thing to say about your sister. I would add that someone taught (ahem…ahem) Lori well also.
One of the very best nights of my life. Thank you for letting mom and me be part of it.

Matt & Lori – we’re really, really happy for you! It’s a great day for our families! Both of you come from good “stock” with families that love you dearly. Celebrate!

I lifted these from the internet:

I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance,
A church filled with family and friends.
I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for,
He said one that would make me his wife.
