food truck tasting February 29th, 2012
Last night, Jill and I attended the The Fourth Estate’s Wine and Food Truck Pairing Dinner at the National Press Club. That’s a long, fancy title for what consisted of a giant food-truck dinner. I really wanted to go to this event because, since I’m now working from home, I never get to eat at (or even see, really) the food trucks, even though they seem to be a new phenomenon that are EVERYWHERE. I wasn’t sure what to expect, honestly I thought there would be a giant room where you would walk around to sample tables, but instead we had a 6-course, sit-down dinner with servers and all. The dishes came out at a pretty leisurely pace, and we got to spend three hours blabbing away. We thought all the food was pretty exceptional and we even got to hear from the truck owners/chefs between courses, when they would talk a little bit about their ingredients, how they got started, and what areas they serve. Each course came with a wine tasting, too. Awesome! (for Jill – #foodtrucks)

Big Cheese
(Crab Cake not pictured, I ate that too fast…)

BBQ Bus – at this point we were getting pretty full…

Chocolate City Beer and Curbside Cupcakes
And when we left… all the buses were lined up outside.

Man, if my old bus company still wants me to drive the bus for them so badly then they are gonna have to make it the BBQ school bus and then we’ll talk.
