stuff and things May 29th, 2014

So it’s been awhile since an update. Things have been crazy around these parts (I hate when people say how crazy their lives are, isn’t everyone’s? Isn’t that the point?) but we’ve both been swamped with work work work, and getting the nursery ready, and just general things around the house… so things have been busy but in a low key kind of way. Here’s a random dump of iPhone photos:

Mom saved some pretty awesome baby clothes for the past 30 years… I’m excited to have all these vintage things washed and ready for the little buritto to wear. Though most of them are pretty gender neutral, there are a few pieces that are just plain girly, but so cute that I still might have to put them on baby even if it’s a boy. We’ll see if I can help it.

Anna organized a nice little ladies night a few weeks back at Menu MBK, where we got to do a 5-course tasting menu at the chefs table for 6, which was right in front of the kitchen. The theme was asparagus, which tends to make one think ewwww, but everything was amazingly delicious. Tasting dinner = pregnancy dream come true.

We saw The Steel Wheels play at Gypsy Sally’s in Georgetown. It had been on my to-do list of places to check out for awhile. Great venue, we will definitely go back. Both Matt and I agree that places where you can sit and have a drink and watch live music are becoming far superior to standing room only kibd of crowdy places. Sign of oldness?

Matt and I celebrated 4 years of marriage last week. How crazy. It suddenly seems like our wedding was sooo long ago, whereas past anniversaries felt like yesterday to me. The suggested 4-year anniversary gift of appliances was the lamest thing I ever heard, so I decided beer was a better alternative. (Why isn’t there a beer anniversary already anyways?) So I surprised Matt with a quick trip out of town. We loosely followed the Susquehana Ale trail tour through PA, though it was a somewhat abbreviated version since we only had a day of free time to squeeze it in. We made stops at Mudhook Brewery in York, the York Central Market, Bube’s Brewery in Mount Joy, and finally the Lancaster Brewing Company. Matt did the drinking, and I did the eating so it was a perfect combination.

Grilled shrimp with Old Bay! Hooray summer is here!! It seemed like an appropriate Memorial Day dinner, and was a nice way to end the long weekend that we both spent the majority of working.

I’ve been getting together lately with other expectant DC moms that I found through a local list-serve, and grape juice and donuts seem to be a common theme of our get-togethers lately. Sugar cravings gone out of control, but we all need a few more donut holes in our lives, amiright?
