Will the tree overtake the star?? …stay tuned…

Looks like bills, coupons, and catalogs to me… What a disappointing mail day. For the sake of 644, I hope there is a Netflix disc hidden in the middle of the pile there somewhere.

Call me an nerd, but I just love HALF addresses. Especially this one, because it appears to just be “HALF.” No other numbers or extraneous letters. I wonder if the fire department has more trouble finding these fractional locations. I’ve seen them frequently labeled as such (for example, 641 1/2) but never as decimals 641.5. What gives?

Helllloooo February. That’s all I got to say today.

I do love round bays on rowhouses, like this one in Logan Circle. They make for great bedrooms with windows to peep out of and observe what is happening on the street below. Of course, they also make it tricky to place furniture, sometimes.

Houses in NW, DC. Must be tricky to descend a spiral staircase just to take the trash out.

I took this photo of Virginia Tech’s solar decathlon house, LumenHaus, this past weekend as it was being constructed on the 5th St lawn outside the National Building Museum. It will be there until Sept 27th, when it will then move to the National Mall for October 9-13 and 15-18. The house features the sliding glass doors (seen in the picture) on the north and south facades, which are all about allowing in the *light*. But more importantly, there’s an app for that — the heating, cooling, lighting, insulation, and sunshades can be controlled by using a computer or iPhone. Now we’re talking! Good luck to the team as they participate in Solar Decathlon Europe in Madrid next summer! US represent.

Well someone in the Shaw area decided to paint the side of their row-house all crazy-like. hehe! Not sure it’s what I would have gone with if I owned an end house and therefore a large, blank canvas at my disposal, but I do appreciate the “whimsicality” of it. Reminds me of Dr. Seuss in a way.

Oh wow, a watermelon house! This is both hilarious and yummy looking. Although, if I had the chance to paint a large fruit on the side of my house, it would be a pineapple. Here is the story behind it.

I think everyone in DC is familiar with these colorful row-homes in Adams Morgan. I always wonder what order they were painted in (there is also a blue one just out of frame on the right side…), and if they have different owners? The colors seem too coordinated for them to have been unrelated paint jobs. Anyways, I think I would most like to live in the happy yellow one.
