This photo was taken a little over 2 years ago from the terrace of the Kennedy Center. We had gone for the Japan! Culture Exhibit, and stepped outside to get some fresh air. It just happened to be magical hour timing with the plane coming into National Airport and the lovely gradient of the sun setting. Strangely, I thought it was shot with film at first glance, but it was actually taken with the D50.

Looking at this old photo this morning, my travel itch has worsened in a big way. We’ve been talking lately about potential trips to take this year, and I’m sooooo ready to go somewhere already. We’ve got a nice little week lined up for Vermont/New Hampshire in August… but.. AUGUST! I can’t wait that long. Other ideas we’re tossing around are Portland, Denver, Seattle. What do you think? Where should we go?!

I read an interesting post this morning on DC Metrocentric.com about new plans for the revitalization of the Kennedy Center, and it actually looks pretty promising. If there is anything that place needs it’s the ability to get to it on foot. I remember the last time that we headed over there it was not easy trying to figure out how to get across all the bridges, highways, and overpasses to the entrance of the building. You’re standing there looking at it about half a mile away and you have no idea which way to head even though you can see the front doors.

If you check out the photo of the architects model at that link, it looks like they are planning for a pretty prominent promenade ((i heart alliteration)) complete with a linear pool of water. Good stuff!

The photo above is taken on one of the outdoor terraces…

The audience is allowed to ask her questions at the microphone, and she was able to answer most of them correctly. Except when someone asked where she lived, and she went on and on about something about breathing oxygen. The other photos are of a colorful textile exhibit and a Tadao Ando installation (RUBBISH RUBBISH) about waste and the future. Link to the exhibit website.
