Night, Lincoln Memorial
January 16th, 2009
Today marks the beginning of what is sure to be a crazy inauguration weekend!! I noticed that traffic into the city last night was already picking up (maybe since many hotels required a 4+ night stay?) and I’m positive tonight will be even worse. Maybe the low temps of 8 degrees F will keep some people inside… Anyways, coming up on Sunday is a free inaugural concert at the Lincoln Memorial, although it’s during the afternoon and presumably on the opposite side of the memorial, not the back side as seen in the photo. Artists that are going to be there include: Bono, Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Bruce, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Usher, Shakira, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, and a few others that I missed from the list. Most importantly, Jennifer Nettles (from Sugarland) will be there!!!! –though I might be the only person in DC excited about her and/or country music at this time. Hopefully her act will not be conflicting with Sunday fun-day football…

Next to Normal
January 4th, 2009
My mom had been planning a “something-I-can’t-tell-you-yet” Christmas present surprise for a few weeks now, and yesterday we finally found out what it was. We were picked up by car and, after following the directions of the Garmin, we arrived at Arena Stage to see a performance of Next to Normal. The picture above shows the main stage set, which was, besides the songs, truly one of the coolest parts of the show.
I don’t go to see theater shows very much, but every time I do, I say to myself, “You should go see more shows.” Then I also walk around for the next three days pretending and wishing I was good at singing…

What is better than messing around with Christmas lights, long exposures, closed apertures, and a zoom lens? Not much my friend, not much. Hey, that is even how we came up with our handy dandy logo (with a bit of color tweaking in PS).
…it is the little things…
Zoo Lights!
December 14th, 2008
My cousin and I went to Zoo Lights at the National Zoo, and even though it was freeeeezing cold, we had a blast. The zoo is kept open late from 6-8p and is filled with colorful LED animal light displays, and most of the animal houses are open. Most of the gorillas were sleeping when we walked through — I guess that is normally their bedtime, and they weren’t staying up for nothing.

Matt has titled this image, “clothed ascending an escalator”. I enjoy all the wobbly blur of people on the left side of this photo — those that were brave enough to try and walk up the monster of an escalator that is at Woodley Park Zoo.
All Hallows Eve
October 30th, 2008
Um, so… this may look like the setting for a murder mystery, but it’s actually just the side-alley entrance to one of our favorite bagel/coffee joints, Jolt N Bolt on 18th St NW. Usually we are there on Sunday mornings, enjoying the delicious breakfast options (especially the smoothies) and then sitting awhile to enjoy this cozy nook.
And yet in this photo, it looks like it’s taken on its Mr. Hyde personality… with the pumpkin lights and nobody there… and the door is mysteriously open = CREEPY!!
What is everyone dressing up as tomorrow? Also, send me your pumpkin and jack-o-lantern pictures to lori (at) juxtaexposed.com. The winner will be posted tomorrow!
