tailgating really is an art, you know? October 19th, 2008

10_18_08_terpstailgate.jpg

Our thanks to Mr. Zack Vogel (check out those sweet glasses) and his generous parents for putting together a delicious Mexican themed smorgasbord of a tailgate yesterday in preparation for the Terps v. Wake Forest football game.  We were unable to score tickets (thanks Jill) and watch Maryland stomp on Wake Forest in their 26-0 victory from Bryd Stadium.  This was okay though as opted to watch the game from the comforts of Lupos the Thirsty Turtle.  The game was a continuation of Maryland’s rollercoaster season that has had them shutting out ranked foes and getting shut out by teams they should have buried.

Now it is Skins time.

Jason Taylor : Welcome to D.C. July 22nd, 2008

Jason Taylor

Welcome, welcome, welcome! You are going to love it here. As quoted on WTOP.com: “We have not talked about anything besides football,” Taylor said of his discussions with the Redskins. “There’s no dancing, unless we’re celebrating a big play.” We won’t hold that Dancing With the Stars thing against you, we thought you looked light on your feet.

Watch your back, Donovan!

Captain Chaos is off the market May 23rd, 2008

JJ Cooley Me

Somewhat old news, but… Redskins tight end Chris Cooley is getting married today to a former Skins cheerleader who actually got fired from the squad for dating him. This event is my excuse for posting this photo of my brush with fame and glory.

But seriously Cooley is the man — and I’m glad that JJ and I waited in line for 2 hours to meet him, even though it involved getting trampled by a short-person with a crutch. This was worth it.

my new grocery store May 5th, 2008

Harris Teeter Redskins

The new Harris Teeter grocery store at 17th and Kalorama just might become my new place to shop for groceries. While I didn’t really see what made the H.T. any better than Giant, as all the hype claims, I did see this sign in the store on my way out. And it’s more than Giant can boast. And so maybe this means nothing, but it also means there is a possibility of seeing Chris Cooley shopping for bread and eggs, and this is where the potential lies. go skins go.

I Got My Drink and My Redskins January 6th, 2008

Redskins

Redskins in the Playoffs! Nothing else do to but watch the game on the big screen at Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse. Surrounded by lots of excited, intoxicated, screaming Skins fans, it was a cool venue for the big game. We were lucky enough to get a group of seats together, without too many Seahawks fans around us.In a pre-game interview with Sellers 8-year old daughter, she predicted that the Redskins were going to win it 100-0.
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and the first-round loss meant that we don’t get to take on the Cowboys again next week. Until next season, we will be rebuilding and keeping the memory of #21 Sean Taylor alive. Waiting for Campbell’s knee to heal. Wondering if Gibbs will return for another season. And waiting for Eastern Motors commercials to come on tv.
