Juxtaexposed’s very first guest posting
September 1st, 2009
It’s not every day (or in fact, ever) that I receive reader requests, but in my inbox yesterday:
[Dear Lori] … i want to have a guest picture. i “think” i took a really cool picture of a cloud with my phone. where should i send it to to see if it is worthy of being on juxta?
Since I’m always happy to see cool photos, and cool photos only, from our reader-base, I accepted.
The next email arrived with photo, and accompanying caption/side-story :
i just sent the picture. it is of a fast moving, bright cloud having a
near collision with a slow moving dark one. it was coo-coo. i was sitting
out on my parents deck drinking some natty boh and listening to john mayer
with the real jj (my parents are in france for a couple weeks) when i
looked up and that’s what i saw. it was right after a down pour that i
thought was going to ruin my evening of anti-social drinking. but instead
God came through by stopping the rain on my cooler and putting on a fabulous lightning show.
and that’s that. do you think i’ll make the cut? –JJ @ freethetacos.org

If you were to walk down the alleyway next to our new house, look up, take out your handy camera, and snap a photo… Well, this is what you would get.

We’ve posted about watching the airplanes at Gravelly Point previously, and now here is one of Matt’s oldie-but-goodie night shots, taken in October of 2006. I think it’s a little too cold to spend an evening out there now, especially with hands out of pockets taking pictures…

The Georgetown canal. If you squint your eyes, don’t the clouds look like they make a big heart?
