sumo! April 28th, 2008

sumo!

Does anyone else think little kids in giant sumo suits trying knock each other over or out of the ring is hilarious? This was another of the festivities as Maryland Day over the weekend in College Park. I gotta wonder if this is offensive to Japanese culture where Sumo has a rich, ancient, and noble tradition? It does sort of seem like it might be. I know as a person of Dutch descent I can’t stand to see wooden shoe and tulip parodies.

Snowy Lion January 3rd, 2008

Snowy Lion
This photo was taken December 5th, 2007 during DC’s first major snowfall of the season. I think we recieved about 5″ of the white stuff. It had been coming down all day, but I ventured out for a *snow walk* as soon as I got home from work. This shot is of the lion on the northwest end of the Taft Bridge.|| camera: Sony DSC T-10 (Lori) ||
